Motorola cuts jobs, Digia acquires Qt and Starbucks partners with Square

Digia to acquire Qt business from Nokia

Digia to acquire Qt business from Nokia

Last year Finnish software company Digia arranged to acquire the Qt commercial software licensing business from Nokia.

It’s now announced plans to acquire the Qt technology and business from Nokia, which means it’s taking over the entire Qt Project. Digia now plans to bring Qt to the Android, iOS and Windows 8 platforms.

Digia to acquire Qt commercial software licensing business from Nokia

Nokia's Qt application and user interface framework business unit, which enables software to be deployed across different platforms without rewriting the source code, is being split. Nokia will continue to invest in the development of Qt for all users, while Finnish company Digia will acquire the Qt commercial software licensing and professional services business.

Qt is available under open source licenses and a commercial license.
