ZTE plans own-brand devices for UK via Brightpoint

ZTE Corporation has signed an agreement with the European distribution business of Brightpoint to provide own-branded smartphones and tablet devices to the UK.

The Chinese telecoms company - best-known in the UK for providing 'white label' devices - has previously said it expects to ship more than 80 million handsets this year, up from 60 million units in 2010.

Sony Ericsson says over two-thirds of its new phones are now smartphones

Sony Ericsson, which celebrates its tenth birthday later this year, has just announced its Q2 2011 results.

It ended the quarter with a net loss of 50 million Euro, compared to a net income of 11 million Euro in the previous quarter (and 12 million Euro in Q2 2010).
