Apple reports quarterly results

Apple has announced financial results for the fourth quarter of its financial year, which ended on 24th September.

Quarterly revenue was up year-on-year to $28.27 billion (£18 billion) and quarterly net profit was up to $6.62 billion. Total annual revenue reached $108 billion.

BBX announced as the next platform for BlackBerry smartphones and tablets

RIM has announced BlackBerry BBX during the BlackBerry Developer Conference today.

It’ll be the next generation of BlackBerry platform, combining elements of the existing BlackBerry smartphone platform and the QNX platform used by the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Mobile spending will increase 15-fold in the next decade

British consumers are set to spend £19.3 billion a year using their mobile phones and tablets in ten years’ time, according to new research by Barclays Corporate.

That’s almost 5% of all retail sales - and almost 15 times higher than this year’s estimated mobile-based sales figure of £1.3 billion.

Motorola Mobility announces Android-powered RAZR smartphone

The latest member of the Motorola RAZR family has been announced by Motorola Mobility.

It’s just 7.1mm deep with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen and will run Android 2.3.5 on a dual-core 1.2GHz processor. The rear-facing camera captures 8-megapixel photos and 1080p video.
