Mobile phone accessory sales will almost double by 2015

Last year, worldwide sales of 'aftermarket' mobile phone accessories – items that aren't included with the handset – generated revenue of $26.5 billion. ABI Research now reckons that figure will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 11.4% to exceed $50 billion in 2015.

Independent telecoms analyst Ovum says 2009 was the worst for telecoms in a decade, with telecoms service provider revenues only growing by 2.2% year-on-year due to the global economic downturn. However, 2010 is expected to be much better.
