A new International Data Corporation (IDC) forecast says netbooks have been dealt a "glancing blow" by tablet devices – but despite this, the netbook category is still growing worldwide.

Telefonica reports quarterly results for O2 UK

Telefónica Europe is the latest company to report its Q3 financial results. It says its European customer base has risen 14% year-on-year to 55 million users, with its mobile customer base up 5.5% year-on-year to 45.9 million.

Ovum publishes mobile application developer survey

Ovum has published the results of its 2010 survey of 217 mobile application developers:

"The success of Apple's iPhone, RIM's BlackBerry, and devices using Google's Android, Microsoft's Windows Phone and the Symbian platform is increasingly determined by the extent of their developer support."

Bambuser now lets broadcasters receive studio talkback while streaming video

Mobile video streaming service Bambuser has enhanced its service by adding 'talkback' for journalists and other video professionals. It'll allow media companies to conduct broadcasts from a mobile phone whilst also maintaining voice contact between the studio and broadcaster.

A quarter of new smartphones run Android, says Gartner report

A new report from Gartner has revealed the operating systems used in the last quarter's smartphone sales. Once again Symbian was the most-used operating system, although its 36.6% market share was down several percentage points from last year.
