HP is dropping webOS phones and the TouchPad tablet

HP has announced what it's describing as a 'company transformation'.

It will stop producing the TouchPad tablet and webOS phones, admitting that they've not met financial targets. The company says it will "continue to explore options to optimize the value of webOS software going forward".

Android users spend more time on apps than on the web

New figures from the Nielsen Smartphone Analytics report show that Android users appear to prefer spending time on mobile apps rather than on web sites.

After analysing data from thousands of smartphones in the USA, Nielsen has calculated that the average Android consumer spends 56 minutes per day interacting with the web and with apps on their phone.
