Facebook to acquire instant messaging app WhatsApp

Facebook has agreed to acquire cross-platform instant messaging app WhatsApp for around $16 billion (£9.6 billion).

The deal to buy the five-year-old company includes $4 billion in cash and around $12 billion in Facebook shares.

Halloween giffgaff ad was too scary, says ASA

A Hallowe’en-themed video ad by UK virtual mobile network giffgaff was likely to offend or distress viewers, according to the Advertising Standards Authority.

It upheld a number of complaints about the ‘Different Takes Guts’ advertisement on YouTube.

HTC customers in USA now promised a replacement for cracked screens

HTC America, the US-based part of HTC’s business, has launched a new service called HTC Advantage for new customers.

Anyone buying an HTC One, HTC One mini or HTC One max will now be offered a free one-off cracked screen replacement if it’s needed within the first six months of ownership.
