New Sharp smartphone converts 2D content into 3D

Orange, NTT DOCOMO and Sharp have announced an Android smartphone that’s able to convert 2D content into 3D content in real time.

The SHARP AQUOS PHONE SH80F will be available in France from next week, although there’s currently no mention of UK availability.

Everything Everywhere announces new machine-to-machine ambitions

Everything Everywhere has launched a new machine-to-machine management platform. The platform has been developed in partnership with Transatel - which already works with the network on its MVNO products - and will be supported through a new relationship with vehicle tracking specialists Redtail Telematics.

It’s described by the company as a major step towards its goal of becoming partner of choice in the M2M space.

3,500 Nokia workers threatened by new changes

Nokia has announced new plans to ‘align its workforce and operations’ that’ll see around 3,500 jobs being cut.

Nokia’s manufacturing facility in Cluj (Romania) and its Location & Commerce operations in Bonn (Germany) and Malvern (USA) will be closing.

WorldPay partners with MoBank for mobile payment service

Payment processing provider WorldPay has announced a partnership with UK-based m-commerce platform provider The MoBank Group.

The deal will make it easier for WorldPay customers to take advantage of mobile commerce as they’ll all have access to MoBank’s MoPowered secure mobile commerce system.

US mobile payment venture gets new supporters

Isis, the US-based mobile commerce venture announced last November by AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless, has acquired a number of new supporters.

HTC, LG, Motorola Mobility, RIM, Samsung Mobile and Sony Ericsson all say they’ll be introducing NFC-enabled mobile devices compatible with the Isis technology standards. In addition, Isis is working with DeviceFidelity to add NFC functionality to other mobile devices.
