Europe moves closer to eCall in-car emergency phone system

The UK still hasn't signed the EU's Memorandum of Understanding to implement eCall across Europe… but it looks as though we're moving closer.

Today the GSM Association signed the MoU, emphasising the commitment of the mobile phone industry to the scheme.

Vodafone and BT create fixed/mobile service for businesses

It seems to be a good week for partnerships. Vodafone UK and BT have just extended their existing partnership into a five-year deal that’s enabling Vodafone to provide fixed-line telephone services to small and medium sized businesses (SMEs).

The announcement coincides with the launch of Vodafone One Net, which can provide a fixed-line and mobile phone service with a single telephone number, a single voicemail service and a single contract. Vodafone One Net also offers a flat call charge whether fixed or mobile and the option of a virtual switchboard across multiple locations.
