New flagship Android smartphone from ZTE

Chinese telecommunications manufacturer ZTE has announced a flagship Android smartphone with a 4.3-inch display screen.

The ZTE Skate uses the Android 2.3 operating system with an 800MHz processor. It also includes a 5-megapixel Bluetooth, A-GPS, hardware compass, and G-sensor.

Two 3D devices from LG at Mobile World Congress

LG announced two 3D-capable devices at Mobile World Congress this morning. The LG Optimus 3D, which can record and play 3D video, was widely expected – although the appearance of a tablet with similar 3D cameras was more of a surprise.

Both devices are equipped with twin 5-megapixel cameras on the back… and both have dual-core processors inside.

Day One at Mobile World Congress: listen to the podcast

James Rosewell and Mark Bridge from The Fonecast are in Barcelona this week to report on the events at Mobile World Congress.

The show opens today – but already there have been some major product announcements. Last night, Samsung and Sony Ericsson both revealed some significant new products, while Nokia talked about its partnership with Microsoft. There was also a showcase of new technology at ShowStoppers.
