Samsung Galaxy S4 reaches 10 million sales in less than a month

Samsung Electronics says its Android-powered Galaxy S4 smartphone has already sold 10 million units since sales began on 26th April, less than a month ago.

That’s the equivalent of four phones every second.

Tech case manufacturer OtterBox acquires rival LifeProof

OtterBox has acquired TreeFrog Developments, the company behind the LifeProof brand.

Both are US-based companies that make protective cases for smartphones and tablets. OtterBox was established in 1998, while LifeProof was founded in 2009.

Communications technology business Ericsson is planning to close its telecom cables operation within the company’s Networks business unit.

Samsung Electronics is reported to have bought a 10% stake in smartphone and tablet manufacturer Pantech.

Pantech is South Korea’s third-largest handset maker after Samsung and LG.

New Intel CEO reorganises the company

Brian Krzanich, who was appointed as CEO of Intel Corporation last week, has started making changes to the company.

He’s taking direct control of a number of business units and is also reported to be creating a ‘new devices’ group that will look beyond mobile.
