Google acquires 'virtual keyboard' mobile app BlindType

San Francisco-based BlindType has been acquired by Google before even releasing its software product. The company was building touch-typing software that adjusted to an individual user's typing style on touchscreen phones – even if the user mis-typed or held the device at an angle.

Qualcomm makes it easier to create mobile Augmented Reality apps

It's getting easier to create Augmented Reality applications, thanks to this week's release of the Qualcomm Augmented Reality Software Development Kit for Android smartphones. The AR SDK will help mobile developers create apps that deliver interactive 3D experiences involving everyday objects and scenes.

Ofcom says fixed-line and mobile companies aren't helping disabled customers enough

Ofcom says mobile and fixed-line communications providers need to do more to publicise services for disabled customers. It's just published the results of mystery shopping research that looked at telephone-based and online help available from BT, Orange, O2, TalkTalk, T-Mobile, Three, Virgin Media and Vodafone.

Telefonica signs agreement with top chef Ferran Adrià

Spanish telecommunications giant Telefónica – parent of the UK's O2 network – has formed an alliance with chef Ferran Adrià. They'll work together on the transformation of 'El Bulli', which was rated the world’s best restaurant between 2004 and 2009. Mr Adrià recently announced plans to close the restaurant for two years and transform it into a unique 'laboratory' that'll reopen in 2014.
