LG sponsors Red Bull Racing F1 team

LG Electronics, already associated with Formula 1 as a Global Partner and a Technology Partner, is now becoming a Team and Technology Partner to Red Bull Racing. The Red Bull Racing Team drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, have currently put the team in second place for the Constructors’ world championship 2010.

BBC smartphone apps given the go-ahead

The BBC Trust, which governs the BBC on behalf of the public, says the BBC's plans to launch its own smartphone applications don't require a Public Value Test. As a result, the apps – which had been delayed - are being launched today.

Amazon says sales via mobile devices exceeded $1 billion in last year

Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos says $1 billion of worldwide sales in the last 12 months have been made via mobile phones, Kindle eBook readers and tablet computers. He revealed the figures when announcing the company's quarterly results, which showed a 41% sales increase to $6.57 billion.

Microsoft's record quarterly revenue keeps it ahead of Apple

Microsoft has announced record quarterly revenue of $16.04 billion for the period ended 30th June 2010, a 22% increase from the same period last year. Operating income was up 49% year-on-year and net income was up 48%.

Vodafone quarterly figures show revenue growth

Vodafone has published quarterly results for the three months ending 30th June 2010. In the UK, service revenue was up 0.7%, contract churn had dropped to 15.5% and 245,000 net contract customers had been added.
