One per cent of mobile users now consume half of all mobile data, says new report

Network management software company Arieso has published a report that compares data use across smartphones and other mobile-enabled devices.

The Newbury-based business says so-called ‘extreme’ users are becoming even more extreme than a year ago, with 1% of mobile subscribers now consuming half of all downloaded data.

O2 to create Europe's largest free WiFi zone in London

An agreement between Westminster City Council, the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and O2 is going to result in the largest free WiFi zone in Europe.

Free WiFi will be available to millions of residents and visitors using laptops, tablets and phones in the Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea areas of London.

For the first time, more than 50% of handsets shipped worldwide in the next 12 months will be 3G or 4G mobile phones.
