ExclusiveGoogle gets out of 4G WiMAX

Google is selling its 6.5% share in US-based 4G WiMAX network operator Clearwire for $47 million, substantially less than the $500 million it originally paid in 2008.

In a statement, it said “Google periodically rebalances its investments based on its goals and its evaluation of market conditions”.

ExclusiveApple switches off iCloud push email in Germany

Apple has switched off the ‘push email’ part of iCloud in Germany. It follows a court ruling earlier this month in favour of a patent held by Motorola Mobility.

Customers using iCloud in Germany can still receive email messages but now need to configure the service to check regularly.

It’s reported that Apple has acquired Chomp, an online service that allows users to search for applications based on their functions.

Apple is believed to have paid around $50 million, although financial details haven’t been confirmed.

ExclusiveVisa and Samsung reveal mobile payment app for London 2012

Visa and Samsung have revealed the official mobile payment application for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It will make its public debut next week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The payment application uses Visa’s payWave NFC-based contactless payment technology.

ZTE is the latest company to promise a quad-core mobile phone for Mobile World Congress.

Following the announcement of the quad-core LG Optimus 4X yesterday (and the Sony PlayStation Vita hitting the shops earlier this week), ZTE says it’ll unveil 8 new devices on Monday in Barcelona... including a quad-core handset.
