ExclusiveQuarterly tablet sales are up - but not as much as expected

New figures from the International Data Corporation show that media tablet shipments haven’t increased as much as expected.

IDC’s Media Tablet and eReader Tracker notes that shipments into sales channels rose by 23.9% from the previous quarter to 18.1 million units in Q3 2011. That’s an increase of 264.5% from the same quarter in 2010... but is 5.8% below IDC’s original forecast of 19.2 million units.

ExclusiveUK Uncut targets Vodafone shops with Christmas campaign

Protest group UK Uncut, which objects to government spending cuts on the grounds they’re unfair and unnecessary, says it’ll be targeting Vodafone shops as part of a ‘Christmas Special’ protest this Saturday.

It had asked people to vote for their preferred target, with thousands taking part online.

ExclusiveMobile security predictions for 2012

Lookout Mobile Security has published details of its Mobile Malware Predictions for 2012, based on data collected from more than one million apps and 15 million mobile devices worldwide.

This year it estimates that more than one million dollars was stolen from Android users - and it expects malware to be even more profitable for criminals next year.

ExclusiveBlyk co-founder Antti Ohrling leaves

Mobile media company Blyk, which ran a virtual network in the UK until 2009, has announced that co-founder Antti Őhrling is leaving “to explore new emerging opportunities”.

Mr Őhrling was also chairman of Blyk India.
