With the school term over and August just a few days away, UK telecom regulator Ofcom has published a new guide to help travellers avoid ‘bill shock’ after using their mobile phones, tablets and laptops abroad.

The Mobile by Sainsbury’s service, which was set up earlier this month as a joint venture with Vodafone UK, has announced its pricing.
As well as offering a basic ‘pay as you go’ mobile phone service with standard calls at 8p per minute and text messages costing 4p each, there are also three 30-day allowances.

Vodafone UK has told its ‘pay as you go’ customers that it’s moving away from charging for standard calls by the second.
From 1st August, customers will be charged per full minute for calls to UK landlines and mobiles.
