Former Vodafone enterprise director Peter Kelly to become Virgin Media Business MD

Virgin Media Business has announced that Peter Kelly, former Enterprise director at Vodafone, is to become its managing director from next month. He’ll report directly to Tom Mockridge, Virgin Media’s CEO.

Mr Kelly has spent the last five years at Vodafone and previously worked at Nortel.

Vodafone reorganises its European regions again

Vodafone Group has decided to reorganise its European businesses from October.

The Northern & Central Europe and Southern Europe regions will be merged into one Europe region, while Vodafone’s Turkish operating company will report its results within the Africa, Middle East and Asia-Pacific region.

Motorola's Moto X smartphone is revealed

No plans for release in Europe

Google-owned Motorola Mobility has announced its new Moto X smartphone, promising that every Moto X sold in the USA will also have been assembled in America.

The handset will be available in the US, Canada and Latin America within the next few weeks, although there are currently no plans for a UK release.

NEC stops producing new smartphones

Tablets and fixed-line phone business continues

Japanese technology company NEC Corporation says it has stopped developing, making and selling smartphones via its NEC CASIO Mobile Communications business.

The smartphone business is controlled by NEC, with Casio and Hitachi each owning a minority share.
