Apple has released a new update to its mobile operating system.
It says the iOS 6.1.1 update “fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S”.

A study of mobile and tablet users in the USA has found that the iPhone 5 came fifth for user satisfaction, with Android devices taking the top four places.
The most satisfying device was the Motorola Atrix HD, a 4G LTE smartphone launched in July last year.

1.6 billion mobile phones were shipped worldwide in 2012; a 2% year-on-year increase, according to ABI Research.
Smartphones accounted for 41% of the overall figure.

Apple announced financial results last night for the 13-week period until 29th December 2012, the first quarter of its 2013 financial year. Quarterly revenue reached a company record of $54.5 billion while net profit was $13.1 billion.
That’s an 18% year-on-year increase in revenue, although the profit figure was almost unchanged.

BT has launched a new application that’ll let its fixed-line customers use an Apple iPhone for calls, with charges added to their home account. The SmartTalk app is free and will work over WiFi or a mobile data connection.
Calls made via the app - whether in the UK or abroad - are billed as if the user was calling from their BT home phone.
