UK mobile phone call quality research by Ofcom puts EE in first place

Ofcom has published research on mobile phone call quality from the ‘big four’ UK network operators.

It’s used data from mobile analytics specialist RootMetrics to better understand consumers’ experience of making phone calls on the EE, O2, Three and Vodafone networks.

Manufacturers from China and India now lead smartphone production, says new research

A new quarterly report from ​ABI Research show that shipments of ‘forked’ Android smartphones - those that use the Android Open Source Project rather than Google’s own version of Android - accounted for 20% of the smartphone market in Q2 2014.

Shipments of AOSP smartphones increased by 20% from the previous quarter, while the total market grew by just 3%.

Over 2 billion smartphones expected to be shipped in 2018

Although smartphone sales don’t have the dramatic year-on-year growth they once had, ABI Research has published a new report that shows these sales figures are still increasing.

It expects 1.25 billion smartphones to be shipped this year, with smartphone shipments forecast to pass the 2 billion mark in 2018.

New research shows M2M adoption up 80% year-on-year

A new research report published by Vodafone shows that global M2M adoption has increased by more than 80% since last year, with over a fifth of companies now actively using the technology.

This figure is expected to keep growing, with the number of machine-to-machine connected devices forecast to increase from 4.4 billion this year to 10.3 billion devices by 2018.
