Yet another record quarter for Apple

Apple has published financial results for the third quarter of its current financial year. It's announced record quarterly revenue of $28.57 billion (£17.7 billion) and record quarterly net profit of $7.31 billion.

In the quarter, which ended on 25th June 2011, the company sold 20.34 million iPhones (up 142% year-on-year) and 9.25 million iPads (up 183%).

Vodafone and Opera extend their mobile browser agreement

Back in March 2009, Vodafone signed an agreement with Opera Software to develop a custom version of the Opera Mini mobile web browser.

The two companies have now signed a three-year extension of their agreement, with the number of active users of the Opera Mini browser having increased by 300% year-on-year.

Cisco to lose around 6,500 employees

Networking giant Cisco says it's cutting approximately 6,500 jobs from its businesses worldwide, which will account for around 9% of the company’s jobs. This figure includes approximately 2,100 employees who've chosen early retirement.

The move is part of the company's previously-announced plan to cut annual costs by $1 billion.

Mobile ad requests from Apple devices overtake Nokia in Europe

Independent mobile advertising network InMobi has released its latest Mobile Insights Report.

As well as showing that the total number of mobile advertising impressions in Europe grew by 21% from Q1 to Q2 2011, it also revealed that the number of ads shown on Apple devices had overtaken ad impressions on Nokia devices.

Appeal expected after ruling says HTC infringed on Apple patents

HTC has issued a statement following a judgement at the US International Trade Commission concerning its legal case with Apple.

In March 2010, Apple said HTC had infringed on ten of its patents; a judge has now ruled that HTC infringed on two patents.
