I want to live in a world... where mobile tariffs are easy to compare

Supermarkets. You either love ‘em or hate ‘em. Actually, that’s not true. Most of us seem to be happy enough with a half-price bottle of wine but less convinced about globalisation and supplier relationships.

But none of that’s bothering me today. Instead, I’m troubled – as I have been for several months – by the TV commercial for Tesco’s prepay mobile phone tariff.

Google introduces voice control and browser sync for Android

Google has introduced two new features for the ‘Froyo’ Android 2.2 mobile operating system today. It’s added a new Chrome to Phone extension to its desktop Chrome web browser that synchronises information - a web page, map, YouTube video, selected phone number or text - to an Android device.

Android becomes top-selling smartphone operating system in the USA

Research company Gartner says worldwide mobile device sales reached 325.6 million units in the second quarter of 2010, a 13.8% increase year-on-year. 19% of all those sales were smartphones, up 50.5% from Q2 2009.

Top ten most bizarre iPhone insurance claims

It's the so-called 'silly season' for news, so we'll forgive online insurance provider protectyourbubble.com for its list of the ten most incredible iPhone insurance claims. The company, which says a fifth of Apple iPhone users have made an insurance claim during the past 12 months, puts "I dropped it from a hot air balloon" at the top of its list. Other unexpected claims include "I lost it while sky diving", "my son used it as a table tennis racket" and "I accidentally buried it in the garden".

Vodafone relents after backlash against 360-themed update

Vodafone has promised smartphone owners an 'open market version' of the Android 2.2 'Froyo' operating system after widespread complaints when the previous version was customised with Vodafone's own services.
