Spreaker joins the mobile broadcasting crowd with an iPhone app

The latest company to join the mobile ‘personal broadcasting’ scene is Spreaker. It’s aiming to do for audio what Twitter does for text and YouTube does for video - and it’s just released its iPhone app.

An Android app is expected shortly.

Ofcom publishes UK outdoor mobile coverage and mobile broadband maps

Telecoms regulator Ofcom has produced a series of maps showing coverage of digital communications services, including outdoor mobile coverage and mobile broadband availability.

The maps have been created from data supplied by communications providers.

We interview ipadio CEO Dr Mark K Smith about the company's growth

Mark Bridge writes:

Two years ago we talked to Mark Smith about a new company he’d just launched. It was called ipadio and it offered a straightforward proposition: you made a phone call and ipadio would turn it into a live online broadcast with a permanent online recording - either as a free service for consumers or as a premium service for businesses.

Cloud communications company Twilio brings its app-friendly telephone services to the UK

Cloud communications company Twilio has launched Twilio Voice in the UK and has opened an office in London. It means developers can use Twilio’s Application Programming Interface to build web and mobile applications that can make and receive telephone calls via UK telephone numbers.

The company has also launched a beta service in Poland, France, Portugal, Austria and Denmark, with an additional 11 countries launching by the end of the year.
