CCS Insight has been looking at tablet usage across Europe, contacting 4,500 tablet owners in France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and the UK - and asking them to complete the survey on their tablet device.
Consumers in the UK were found to be the heaviest users, averaging 2.8 hours a day, with 95% of UK owners using their tablet for at least an hour a day.

The Mobile Money Network has launched its ‘Simply Tap’ shopping application for Android and Apple devices.
Customers who set up a Simply Tap account (including payment details) can then buy products just by entering a short code into the app. The sale is then confirmed, payment is taken and the product is delivered to the customer’s chosen address.

Motorola Mobility has announced two new XOOM tablet devices for the UK and Ireland, following the launch of the original XOOM in February.
Both devices will be available at The Carphone Warehouse, Best Buy, Dixons, PC World and Currys from mid-November.

Vodafone is planning 12 new trials using femtocell technology to provide voice, text and mobile broadband coverage in ‘not spots’ across the UK.
It follows a trial in the Berkshire village of East Garston, where ‘open femto’ devices from Alcatel-Lucent have been installed in a handful of local properties. Further femtocells will soon be mounted on telegraph poles in partnership with BT Openreach.

Qualcomm, one of the leading producers of chipsets used in mobile phones, has announced results for the fourth quarter of its financial year.
Revenue was up 39% year-on-year to $4.12 billion, while net income was up 22% year-on-year to $1.06 billion.
