ARM, Gemalto and Giesecke & Devrient form mobile device security venture

Microprocessor business ARM has announced a joint venture with security technology companies Gemalto and Giesecke & Devrient.

The new partnership, which is subject to regulatory approval, will develop technology to improve security across tablets, smart TVs, games consoles and smartphones.

Gemalto acquires M2M service delivery platform provider SensorLogic

Digital security company Gemalto has acquired machine-to-machine specialist SensorLogic. Full details of the transaction haven’t been revealed.

SensorLogic will join the Cinterion M2M module business acquired by Gemalto last year.

Gemalto selected to provide security infrastructure for US Isis mobile commerce platform

Isis, the US-based mobile commerce venture set up by AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless, has chosen Gemalto to provide much of the scheme’s security infrastructure.

Gemalto’s Trusted Service Manager solution will be used to secure the mobile commerce platform.

Gemalto research says security concerns, not security problems, hampering NFC adoption

Consumer concerns about the security of NFC mobile contactless payments are causing a barrier to adoption, according to new research commissioned by digital security company Gemalto. The information has been released as part of the company’s campaign for better education around the subject of NFC.

Over a third of respondents - 34% - said they hadn’t used or wouldn’t use their phone as a mobile wallet due to security concerns, with 24% not trusting NFC because they didn’t understand how it worked.

An introduction to mobile financial services with Gemalto

Mobile banking. eBanking. Mobile money. m-payments. They’re all terms that are often thrown around interchangeably (and incorrectly) when talking about mobile financial services.

To help understand more about the difference facets of mobile commerce - from security concerns through to current implementation and future innovations - I headed for Gemalto’s recent Innovation Day at the Museum of London. I started by talking to Howard Berg, senior vice president at Gemalto, and admitted to him that I still thought of Gemalto as being a SIM card and smartcard manufacturer rather than the digital security company it’s become.
