New Porsche Design smartphone being produced by BlackBerry

It’s been rumoured for a few weeks... but Porsche Design and Research In Motion have now confirmed they’ll be producing a new luxury mobile phone.

The new device is officially called the Porsche Design P’9981 smartphone from BlackBerry - and will feature a stainless steel frame, leather back cover and distinctive sculpted QWERTY keyboard.

Strategy Analytics says Samsung is now the world's top seller of smartphones

Strategy Analytics has calculated that global smartphone shipments grew by 44% year-on-year to reach 117 million units in the third quarter of 2011.

As a result, Samsung has overtaken Apple to become the world’s number one smartphone vendor.

Motorola Mobility announces quarterly results

Motorola Mobility has announced its results for the third financial quarter of 2011.

Net revenue was up 11% year-on-year to $3.3 billion, while the net loss in the third quarter was $32 million, slightly less than the net loss in Q3 2010.

Quarterly results from Samsung Electronics

Samsung Electronics has published its results for the third quarter of 2011, with revenue up 3% year-on-year to 41.27 trillion Korean won (£23.2 billion).

Net income was down 23% year-on-year to 3.44 trillion won.
