BT launches free WiFi hotspot finder app for Android and iPhone

BT has followed up on its June 'free WiFi' announcement by launching a free mobile application that will automatically connect BT Total Broadband customers to a network of 1.6 million WiFi hotspots. In addition, it's giving 50p to BBC Children in Need for each application downloaded until its target of £10,000 is reached.

Samsung reveals dual-core mobile processor

It's a day for dual-core mobile chips. Not only has LG announced its 1GHz NVIDIA chip but Samsung has introduced a 1GHz ARM CORTEX dual-core processor. It's codenamed 'Orion' and – like its rival – supports 1080p full HD video and can deliver five times the 3D graphics performance of previous processors.

LG promises dual-core smartphones later this year

LG Electronics says it'll be using the NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile processor in its Optimus Series smartphones later this year. The Tegra 2 promises to be the first mobile dual-core CPU available in a mobile phone, offering 1080p HD video playback, 3D graphics and up to 5x faster gaming performance over single core processors running at 1 GHz.

T-Mobile and Orange UK customers to be offered network sharing next month

Everything Everywhere, the Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom partnership that runs T-Mobile and Orange in the UK, says it'll give its customers access to both networks at no extra cost from next month.

From 5th October, the combined customer base of Orange and T-Mobile in the UK, which is around 30 million customers, will be able to sign-up for access to both networks.
