£31 billion will be gambled on mobile phones in 2015

A report published today by Juniper Research says $48 billion (£31 billion) will be gambled using mobile phones in 2015. The growth will be driven by a combination of mobile casino, lottery and betting service launches in major emerging markets led by China along with liberalisation of remote gambling legislation across the US and Europe.

More than a quarter of US mobile phone owners still don't text - but the number keeps falling

The latest survey from the Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project - a report called Cell Phones and American Adults - shows that texting by American adults has increased substantially over the past year. 72% of adult mobile phone users now send and receive SMS text messages, up from 65% in September 2009. That compares with 87% of teenage mobile phone users (aged 12-17). Adults use their phones for around 5 voice calls per day and send an average of 10 text messages per day, whilst teens send 50 messages a day on average.

New mobile ad platform offers video and 360-degree rotating images

Mobile marketing agency YOC has announced what it's describing as 'Europe's first rich media advertising platform'.

It's called YOC Ad Plus and it offers advertisers the ability to embed video, picture galleries and 360° rotation into their mobile advertising. The service is currently available for the Apple iPhone and iPad, and will be available for the Android operating system in the autumn.

Renewed AOL and Google partnership now includes mobile search

Google and AOL have announced a five-year renewal and expansion of a partnership that dates back to May 2002. At the heart of the agreement is Google's provision of search services to AOL's content network and properties, in exchange for a revenue-sharing arrangement.

Mobile Marketing Association redefines and repositions itself

The Mobile Marketing Association is repositioning itself to reflect changes within mobile marketing. The global trade organisation, which counts over 700 companies as members, had originally been describing itself as "established to lead the growth of mobile marketing" but acknowledges that mobile marketing has evolved.
