Applitalism.com, the combination of social network and application store that launched in September and ‘went global’ a few weeks ago, says it now has more than 10 million music downloads in its catalogue for US and Canadian visitors. UK users can browse through more than 5 million tracks.

A new report from research company comScore says 100 million mobile phone subscribers in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy have seen SMS advertisements. In addition, more than 57 million subscribers said they’d seen an ad on their mobile phone when browsing the internet or accessing an application.

Mobile payment provider Monitise plc says it’s working with Best Buy Europe and Charles Dunstone to create a new project called the ‘Mobile Money Network’. It follows discussions between Monitise and The Carphone Warehouse last year.

UK MVNO giffgaff has extended its free mobile internet offer again. Customers can benefit from 100MB of daily data at no extra cost. Instead of finishing in December, the deal will now run until the end of February 2011 because – once again – the implementation of giffgaff’s pricing plan has been delayed.

A mobile phone fraud worth £60,000 was revealed last week. 195 mobile phones had been ordered online from The Carphone Warehouse using false names but genuine addresses. Instead of delivering the phones to the correct address, delivery drivers were paid to deliver them to the person who’d placed the fraudulent orders.
