Vodafone India has partnered with ICICI Bank to launch the M-Pesa mobile money transfer and payment service in India. It’s estimated that approximately 700 million people in the country have no access to conventional banking.
M-Pesa was first launched in Kenya in 2007, allowing customers to send and receive small amounts of money on mobile phones.

The lowest price for 4G data is currently in India, while the highest price - $67.80 (£43) for 5GB - is in the UAE.

A new study from Visa and Fundamo, the mobile money platform Visa acquired last year, reveals that the majority of consumers in six developing countries are already aware of mobile money services.
In addition, nearly 90% of consumers expressed an interest in making payments or sending funds from their mobile phone in the future.

Nokia says it is “exploring options for a structured exit from the Mobile Financial Services business”, which includes the Nokia Money service in India.
Nokia Money was announced in 2009 following Nokia’s investment in mobile phone payment service Obopay.
