70% of electricity customers in Europe expected to have smart meters by 2022

Figures from wireless analyst firm Berg Insight show that 70% of electricity customers in Europe are expected to have smart meters by 2022.

The current figure for smart meter penetration in Europe is 24%; that’s the equivalent of 67.9 million smart electricity meters, most of which are in Italy, Spain and the Nordic countries.

Europe moves closer to launching in-car eCall emergency service in 2018

The European Parliament has moved closer to mandating the installation of an emergency call system in all new cars and smaller commercial vehicles.

Earlier this week MEPs voted to require all new car models to have its eCall system installed from 31st March 2018. They’d originally hoped to mandate eCall from 2015.

TomTom navigation coming to Acer smartphones

TomTom navigation coming to Acer smartphones

Navigation and mapping specialist TomTom has agreed a multi-year deal with technology manufacturer Acer.

It’s powering a new navigation application called ‘AcerNAV’ that’ll be available on Acer smartphones.
