Mobile industry losing 6 per cent of revenue through billing issues

A new report from Juniper Research reveals that the mobile telecommunications industry lost more than $58 billion last year due to inadequate Fraud Management and Revenue Assurance processes.

That’s over 6% of global industry revenue.

Research shows almost a third of US prepay sales are smartphones

Research from The Stevenson Company in the USA has revealed an increase in smartphone sales on prepaid and ‘pay monthly’ tariffs.

The company’s latest TraQline Wireless report confirms that more than 50% of all mobile phone purchases are now smartphones.

T-Mobile UK announces price rise for 'pay monthly' customers on older tariffs

T-Mobile UK has announced that it’ll be increasing some of its prices from 9th May 2012.

Customers on most ‘pay monthly’ contracts will have their basic monthly charge increased by 3.7%.

EU says new roaming plans could be in place for July 2012

A new way of dealing with calls when ‘roaming’ abroad in Europe could be introduced in a couple of years - and new charges could arrive in July 2012. That’s the message from the European Commission, which has just announced a preliminary deal on new EU Roaming rules.

The European Parliament is expected to approve this agreement in May 2012, with the Council of the European Union expected to give its approval in June. The new rules could then become law on 1st July 2012.
