Danish mobile company Lumigon produces a new Android smartphone

Danish mobile company Lumigon has extended its premium smartphone range with the T2 HD, a successor to the two-year-old T2.

The new handset has a stainless steel body, a toughened glass screen and is water resistant. It runs Android v4.4 on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, supports 4G and is equipped with up to 128GB of memory.

It described audio as “the Achilles’ heel” of feature phones, smartphones and tablets.

HTC to sell its stake in Beats Electronics for a profit

HTC is selling its final share in audio product manufacturer Beats Electronics back to the company.

It bought a majority share in Beats two years ago but later sold some of its stake back to the founding members. This final deal for 24.84% of Beats is worth $265 million (£164 million), resulting in a £53 million profit.

Dr Ray Dolby of Dolby Laboratories has died

Dolby Laboratories has announced that company founder Dr Ray Dolby OBE died yesterday at the age of 80.

Dr Dolby, who is best known for his pioneering work with the noise reduction and surround sound systems that bear his name, founded Dolby Laboratories in 1965.
