The BOLT mobile browser prepares to celebrate its first birthday

Bitstream's BOLT mobile browser has ended its inaugural year with 3.3 million downloads under its belt.

Since launching in early 2009 the browser has rendered more than 380 million web pages and delivered 109 million minutes of streaming video.

Google announces free navigation service for Android phones

One day it’s a rumour, the next it’s reality. Google has just announced a beta version of Google Maps Navigation for smartphones running Android 2.0. It uses information from Google Maps to create a 3D sat nav service with turn-by-turn voice guidance and automatic rerouting. It also includes Google’s voice search and live traffic data. The service is currently only available in the USA, not least because the new Motorola Droid from Verizon Wireless is the first handset to run Android 2.0.

Vodafone announces 'Vodafone 360' online services

Vodafone has announced Vodafone 360, an online aggregator that puts all your friends, web communities, entertainment and personal favourites together on your phone or PC. For example, it combines contacts from compatible mobile phones with friends on Facebook, Windows Live Messenger and Google Talk to create a single address book called Vodafone People.

There’s also going to be an app store called the Vodafone Shop.

New mobile service allows time-limited location sharing

With the tagline “Share Your Where”, Glympse Inc has revealed the public beta of its mobile location service.

It lets users share their current location on a detailed map without requiring friends and colleagues to register.
