Global mobile advertising revenue expected to grow by 400% in five years

The revenue from mobile advertising around the world is expected to reach $11.4 billion (£7.1 billion) this year, according to a new report from research company Gartner, and will hit $24.5 billion in 2016.

That means there’ll have been a 400% increase between 2011 and 2016.

Mobile optimisation is becoming a top priority for online retailers, says new research

Online retailers are focussed on improving the customer experience for web shopping this year, turning browsing into sales across all devices. That’s according to the 2013 State Of Retailing Online survey from retail community Shop.org and research company Forrester Research.

In fact, 51% of US retailers surveyed said their top priority for 2013 was site optimisation.

One in seven mobile customers will be using mobile banking by 2017

Over one billion people will have used their mobile devices for banking by the end of 2017, according to a new Juniper Research report. That’s more than 15% of the global subscriber base - and is a substantial increase from this year’s expected total of just over 590 million mobile banking users.

UK mobile internet users are looking for news, sport and official help

Web browser company Opera has been looking at European web site usage in its latest State of the Mobile Web report.

Ignoring international online services such as Facebook and Google, Opera has produced top ten lists of local websites for each country.
