Initial findings from the GSMA’s 2013 Mobile Money Adoption Survey show there are now 208 live ‘mobile money for the unbanked’ services running in 83 countries, with an additional 117 deployments already planned.
That compares with 178 services across 74 countries in January.

The GSMA has been busy planning next year’s Mobile World Congress, which will be held from 24th until 27th February 2014 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona.
It’ll have a theme of ‘Creating What’s Next’ and will highlight mobile innovations and advances in mobile.

The GSMA has commissioned a report into mobile health technology that shows almost £85 billion could be saved in EU healthcare costs by 2017.
However, it warns that regulatory, economic, structural and technological barriers could result in mHealth only reaching 10% of its potential.
