Samsung agrees to pay patent licensing fees to Ericsson

Ericsson and Samsung have reached a multi-year agreement on global patent licenses that cover GSM, UMTS and LTE standards.

It ends complaints made by both companies to the US International Trade Commission (ITC) and lawsuits in the USA.

Qualcomm buys around 2,400 patents from HP

Patent portfolio includes technology from Palm, iPAQ and Bitfone

Qualcomm Incorporated has acquired a collection of patents from three HP companies: Hewlett-Packard Company, Hewlett-Packard Development Co LP and Palm Inc.

The patent portfolio comprises approximately 1,400 granted patents and patent applications from the USA plus approximately 1,000 patents and applications from other countries.

BlackBerry begins legal action against 'Typo' keyboard case for iPhone

The Typo keyboard, which combines a protective case with a Bluetooth-connected QWERTY keyboard for iPhone devices, is being threatened by legal action from BlackBerry.

US TV personality Ryan Seacrest and entrepreneur Laurence Hallier founded Typo Products last year after almost two years of product development. Their first Typo keyboard case, designed for the iPhone 5 and 5S, is due to start shipping this month.

HTC One and HTC One mini still not banned in the UK

Last week a High Court judge - the Honourable Mr Justice Arnold - ordered an injunction against a number of HTC devices being sold in the UK.

However, an appeal by HTC has now resulted in the injunction being stayed until 12th December 2013.
