0.1% of the world’s 4G users consumed more than half of all LTE downlink data in 2013, according to a new report. That makes these ‘extreme’ 4G users 10 times more data hungry than 3G customers, where 1% of users consume half of all 3G downlink data.
The figures come from the JDSU Location Intelligence Business Unit, which was known as Arieso until its acquisition last year.

Complaints against press, poster and online advertising by Three UK have been upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority.
The ads referred to Three’s 3G network with DC-HSDPA technology. They described the network as ‘ultrafast’ and ‘running at what we affectionately call 3.9G’. Rival network EE said it thought the ‘3.9G’ claim was potentially misleading.

Vodafone has announced that the Herefordshire village of Ewyas Harold is the latest area to benefit from its ‘community-led network’ programme to boost mobile coverage.
Ewyas Harold is one of twelve UK communities chosen by Vodafone following a pilot scheme in East Garston.

Eurotunnel has signed a 10-year agreement with EE and Vodafone that’ll make mobile phone services available to Eurostar and Le Shuttle passengers travelling from the UK to France.
A similar deal came into operation last year with French networks providing mobile coverage in the ‘South Tunnel’ that carries travellers from France to the UK.

EE says it’ll invest £275 million in its voice call service next year.
In total, the company is planning to spend £1.5 billion on its network during the next few years, with over a third supporting its ambition “to reach new standards in phone call quality and reliability”.
