Microsoft announces Windows 10 operating system for desktop, mobile, game consoles and the Internet of Things

Microsoft has unveiled the successor to its Windows 8 operating system.

It’s called Windows 10 - not Windows 9 - and is designed to work with a wide range of devices, including Xbox gaming consoles, PCs, smartphones, tablets and M2M devices.

Opera Software says it’s signed a licensing agreement that’ll result in Opera Mini becoming the default web browser for Microsoft’s existing portfolio of feature phones.

The deal covers mobile phones based on the Series 30+, Series 40 and Asha software platforms.
