2 million Euro investment for mobile video company Oonair

Barcelona-based Oonair, which enables companies to capture and publish video from a mobile device to the web, has received a €2 million equity investment through Spanish private equity fund bcnHighgrowth.

It says this equity investment will enable it to further develop its technology and will strengthen commercial development at a national and international levels - preparing Oonair to become the ultimate mobile content generation tool for media groups, engineering companies, emergency service and multinationals requiring the oversight of remote projects while reducing costs.

Garlands call centre calls in the receivers

The Garlands call centre operation has gone into administration, leaving over a thousand employees in the North East of England facing redundancy. The move appears to have been causes by a number of clients moving their customer service business away from CJ Garland & Co. The company, which had been trading for over 25 years, was founded by Chey Garland. It had provided customer service operations to Vodafone, Orange and TalkTalk.

FTC closes its investigation of Google AdMob deal

Google's takeover of mobile advertising company AdMob has effectively been given the go-ahead by the US Federal Trade Commission. The FTC has closed its investigation after reviewing the deal and concluding that it is unlikely to harm competition in the mobile advertising market.

In a statement, the commission said that although the combination of the two leading mobile advertising networks raised serious antitrust issues, its concerns were overshadowed by Apple's recent move to launch its own competing mobile ad network. The Commission vote to close the investigation was 5-0.

Sony to produce Android mobile devices without Ericsson?

Sony Corporation and Google have announced an alliance that'll see the two companies working together on Android-powered entertainment products. In a statement, the two companies said they were "exploring the joint development of compelling new Android-based hardware products for the home, mobile and personal product categories".

Orange launches NFC phone in France for travel and payments

Orange France has launched a contactless payment and ticketing service in the area around Nice. It's based on an NFC-equipped version of the Samsung Player One handset and includes a free Cityzi pass that'll let consumers buy and validate tickets on public transport, pay in shops and accumulate loyalty points.
