New disruptive pricing model from iZettle could boost mobile transactions in the UK

Mobile payment service iZettle, which enables businesses to take card payments via an iPhone or Android smartphone, is dropping its transaction fees for UK businesses that take over £2,000 a month.

Rates will fall from the company’s standard 2.75% transaction fee to as little as 1.5%, depending on the total amount processed. The rate reduction applies to all types of card payment.

Financial betting service uses iPhone cameras to verify official ID

XP Capital introduces Jumio Netverify

Financial betting platform XP Capital has started enabling new customers to verify their age and identity by holding official documents in front of an Apple iPhone camera.

The company’s iOS app has integrated Netverify from Jumio, which can scan driving licences, passports and ID cards and then confirms their authenticity.

BlackBerry announces support for Bluetooth Smart accessories

BlackBerry has announced its BlackBerry 10 platform will support the Bluetooth Smart Ready standard.

This will enable BlackBerry devices to work with both standard and low-energy Bluetooth peripherals, including fitness and healthcare accessories.

Nokia Lumia 625 offers a larger screen at a smaller price

Nokia has announced a 4G-ready smartphone with a 4.7-inch screen. The Nokia Lumia 625 runs Windows Phone 8 and includes some of the camera features introduced on the flagship Nokia Lumia 1020.

It runs on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and has a 5 megapixel camera.
