Nokia has won a patent ruling against Research In Motion that covers the use of WiFi technology in BlackBerry devices.
It means that BlackBerry could potentially block the sale of BlackBerry handsets if the companies don’t agree to a patent licensing agreement. Court action by Nokia is apparently planned in the UK, the USA and Canada.

Research In Motion has updated its BlackBerry Messenger instant messaging service to allow free voice calls to other BBM users via WiFi.
BBM version 7 enables customers to switch between texting and talking with their contacts.

But when will the phones be available?
Research In Motion has announced that its official BlackBerry 10 launch date will be Wednesday 30th January 2013.
This event will see the new BlackBerry 10 platform launched as well as RIM’s first two BlackBerry 10 smartphones, although the availability of these devices won’t be known until the launch.
