Mobile Broadband Group asks BBFC to help regulate adult mobile internet services

From September, the Mobile Broadband Group will start using the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) to help UK mobile networks restrict access to commercial content that is unsuitable for customers under the age of 18.

This comes after 8 years of working with the Independent Mobile Classification Board, which currently provides the framework for mobile commercial content.

Instagram launches video option to rival Vine

Mobile-based photo sharing service Instagram has launched an option to share video clips as well.

The service, which was acquired by Facebook last year, now lets users with its Apple or Android apps share up to fifteen seconds of video.

More than 2 billion people are expected to be watching mobile TV and video by 2017

Juniper Research has forecast that 2 billion mobile and tablet users will be watching TV and video on their devices by 2017.

This worldwide growth is being attributed to two main factors: the uptake of higher-quality mobile devices and the growing popularity of short (and easily shared) video clips.

ITV launches new Android version of catch-up TV application with exclusive Samsung deal

Android fragmentation blamed for the decision

UK commercial television broadcaster ITV has announced a new version of its catch-up television player for Android devices.

The free ITV Player app offers access to the last thirty days of content across ITV, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV channels. However, unlike previous versions it’s only available for selected Samsung smartphones and tablets.
