Mobile ticketing business Masabi picks up £1.8 million investment

UK business Masabi, which has pioneered the introduction of mobile tickets for public transport, has secured $2.8 million (£1.8 million) in funding from investment firms Fontinalis Partners, MMC Ventures and m8 Capital.

The money will be used to accelerate the roll-out of mobile tickets in the USA following the company’s successful implementation of m-tickets for rail and ferry services in Boston.

New CEO for mobile processor business ARM

British-based semiconductor technology business ARM Holdings is preparing for a new CEO.

Warren East, who joined the company 19 years ago and has been Chief Executive for almost 12 years, has decided to retire from 1st July 2013. Simon Segars, currently the company’s President, will become the new CEO.

4G LTE traffic expected to increase by over 200% this year

At the end of last year, the total volume of mobile data traffic reached 13,412 petabytes according to ABI Research.

That represents an increase of 69% year-on-year.

Intuit launches its own mobile payment service for UK businesses

Business accounting software specialist Intuit has announced a new mobile-based payment system for retailers.

It’s called Intuit Pay and has been designed to let UK businesses take card payments face-to-face and over the phone. The service combines a free iOS app and a chip & PIN card reader, which is also free at the moment.
