Apple has announced the fifth generation of its iPad tablet: the iPad Air.
It features a similar 9.7-inch ‘Retina’ display to the previous model but is thinner and lighter, just 7.5mm deep and weighing 469g.

Apple has announced a ‘USB Power Adapter Takeback Program’ to help reassure customers about the safety of iPhone chargers.
A number of recent media reports have suggested that some counterfeit chargers or third-party chargers may be dangerous, with a woman in China reportedly killed and a Chinese man seriously injured in separate incidents last month.

The Office of the United States Trade Representative, which is part of the Executive Office of the President of the USA, has overruled a legal decision made in June by the US International Trade Commission.
It means that older versions of the Apple iPhone and iPad will remain on sale in the United States and will not be banned.

Yesterday evening Apple announced results for the third quarter of its financial year, with revenue up just 1% year-on-year to $35.3 billion and net profit down over 21% to $6.9 billion.
31.2 million iPhones were sold during the April-June period, increasing year-on-year by 20% to a record for that quarter, while iPad sales fell 14% to 14.6 million units.
