Theft and vandalism causes problems for O2 in south of England

O2 UK is reporting problems on its network in parts of London, Kent and East Sussex. It follows the theft of equipment from one of the company's sites in East London early this morning.

Calls, text messaging and data services are all affected.

UK police officers can now identify a stolen mobile phone IMEI in seconds

Front-line police officers 'on the beat' will soon only need a few seconds to check whether a mobile phone has been stolen. A new process developed by the National Policing Improvement Agency comes into effect on Monday, giving officers the ability to directly access the National Mobile Phone Register from a handheld device.

Around 54,000 officers across the UK currently use handheld computers in their work.

Mobile fraudsters jailed for £2 million premium rate con

A team of fraudsters has been sentenced to a total of 26 years in jail for a £2 million fraud that targeted UK mobile networks.
