So I was more than happy to help when Optomen Television, the company behind “Britain’s Secret Shoppers” on Channel 4, asked me for a few tips that would help viewers get a good deal on a mobile phone.

Cellebrite adds a self-service option to its smartphone fault diagnosis tools

Cellebrite, which already offers mobile phone retailers a content transfer and fault diagnosis tool for smartphones, has announced what it’s describing as “the industry’s first and only Multi-Channel Diagnostics Solution”. It’s designed to improve customer service by offering consumers a variety of options if they believe their handset has developed a fault.

The handheld Cellebrite Touch diagnostic device was originally launched in 2011, enabling retail staff to automatically detect and correct issues by connecting the device to the customer’s phone.

Marketing technology company Pontis, based in the high-tech industrial zone of Ra'anana in central Israel, has a much more focussed perspective. It talks about a segment-of-one marketing approach… and it’s just started working with O2 in the UK.

Ofcom launches consultation about price rises during mobile, landline and broadband contracts

Wants networks to let customers leave if prices increase during an initial contract term

Ofcom has announced a consultation about protecting consumers from price rises during fixed-term contracts for landline, broadband and mobile phone services.

It first revealed plans for the consultation in October last year.
