Nokia acquiring mobile analytics company Motally

Mobile analytics company Motally is being acquired by Nokia, with the deal expected to be concluded in the autumn. Nokia says it plans to continue serving Motally's existing customer base while adapting the company's tracking and reporting service for Qt, Symbian, Meego and Java developers.

Orange UK data network returns to normal after yesterday's problems

Orange UK says normal service has been fully restored following some data access problems on its network yesterday. The issues were apparently caused by a combination of software and hardware failure.

100 million people use Google Maps on their mobile phones every month

Google Maps for mobile, which launched less than five years ago, is now used by more than 100 million people a month. The figure was revealed by Vic Gundotra, Google's Vice President of Engineering, in a blog post yesterday.

Apple drops Quattro Wireless for iAd

In January this year, Apple acquired mobile advertising business Quattro Wireless. It's believed Apple paid around $275 million, although an official figure was never reported. At the time Quattro said there'd be no changes to its services in the short-term.

Intel to acquire McAfee

Computing company Intel is to acquire anti-virus company McAfee in a deal that's been unanimously approved by both boards of directors. McAfee will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intel, reporting into Intel’s Software and Services Group.
