Augmented Reality apps will be installed on 2.5 billion mobile devices in 2017

Juniper Research has forecast that over 2.5 billion mobile augmented reality (AR) applications will be downloaded to smartphones and tablets every year by 2017.

The research company points out this is 3½ times the number of downloads of the Angry Birds game last year.

New report says a quarter of all online shopping will be via mobile devices within 5 years

A new report by ABI Research expects the m-commerce market to account for 24.4% of overall e-commerce revenue by the end of 2017.

It follows a period of particularly strong growth last year, when the amount of online mobile transactions doubled to $65.6 billion worldwide.

1 in 8 smartphone owners has made a purchase using their phone

The latest research from the comScore MobiLens service shows that one in eight European smartphone owners has completed a retail transaction on their mobile phone.

The study, which looked at mobile commerce across France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom, noted that 19.5 million smartphone users across these ‘EU5’ countries had accessed retail content, with 75% of them conducting and completing a purchase. That’s over 14.5 million mobile shoppers across Europe.

New research shows how mobiles are disrupting high-street shopping

New research commissioned by affiliate marketing pioneer Tradedoubler and carried out by Forrester Consulting has shown how mobile commerce is transforming consumer behaviour.

The European study revealed that 53% of smartphone users are now buying goods and services on their devices, while 71% of smartphone users are researching potential purchases via mobile.
