Huawei has announced what it’s describing as the world’s slimmest smartphone. The Huawei Ascend P6 is just 6.18mm deep, compared with 7.6mm for the iPhone 5.
It runs Android on a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and has a 4.7-inch HD screen.

A new report from the International Data Corporation says more smartphones were shipped in Q1 2013 than feature phones, which is the first time smartphone shipments have dominated.
Overall, it reckons the worldwide mobile phone market grew 4% year-on-year in the first three months of this year. IDC says manufacturers shipped 418.6 million mobile phones in the quarter, of which 51.6% were smartphones.

Chinese technology business Huawei has released financial results for 2012. Sales revenue was up almost 8% to 220.19 billion Chinese yen (£23.2 billion), while net profit was up 32% to 15.38 billion yen (£1.6 billion).
The company’s Carrier Network business group saw sales up 6.7% year-on-year, while the Enterprise business group had a 25.8% sales increase and the Consumer business group’s sales revenue was up 8.4%.
